What will no doubt become an annual trip, Rebecca and I went to Araluen Botanical Gardens again at the end of August. First few weeks of spring is the best time, though I’ve never been any other time. It’s a place full of flowers so I’m guessing spring is always best! I went in 2015 and it was great, this time I walked it in reverse to see if there was anything I missed.

Always worth doing that I think, you’d be surprised what you discover doing things in a different order!

We arrive to an empty park. I knew any later and the place would be overrun by the elderly and Chinese and the elderly Chinese. Plethora of selfie sticks were to be expected.

There was some old dude playing..a guitalele. I searched google for “small guitar name not ukulele” and I’m satisfied this is what it was!

As we were walking anti-clockwise, we walked past the stream north up the hill. A chance to use my Neutral Density filter to capture some long exposure daytime flowing water photos. You know you’ve got a winner of a friend when they stick around while you stand waiting for your long exposures to finish.

Then we headed east towards the….some sort of seating area for the elderly. I don’t know, none of the park has any name landmarks. So the next part was the red pink and white tulip area…

I took lots of photos of Rebecca. But if I post any in the public domain she’ll harm me. So, I know the trick is to pick the best one and mix it in with a load of others to make the violence on me worth while!

What is usually visited first are the cascades at the entrance. Another long exposure did a good job of getting rid of folks from the photo as long as they kept moving!

We loitered around for a bit, listened to a tenor singing his tunes, and then left to search for a lunch venue for the next few hours. Rebecca and I are the worst at choosing lunch venues….
