It's hard to believe, almost impossible to fathom, but there are Perth residents who still haven't been to Bells Rapids. Now I won't name names, but on the weekend I decided to show Louise what she'd been missing out on...

We had some pre-workout at the ice cream van and then set off on our journey. There are two standard tracks, the shorter loop alongside the river and the longer one, that heads up the hill on the gravel 4wd track, then joins the river loop as it comes back into the valley.

Both loops are on the west side of the river, so we crossed across the iconic bridge and headed up the hill, overtaking slower families and being overtaken by the super fit people. The views up the climb were well worth the effort.

We completed the fairly short and straight forward walk back towards the bridge, judged some drone pilots as they filmed themselves walking on the track and watched a water bird struggle to find solid footing in the water.

We spent some time near the bridge, climbed up a ridge to get a better view of the impending sunset, but then stomach needs called and we left for dinner.
