This was to be my second time up Bluff Knoll, 2nd highest peak in Western Australia and the only place that seems to get any snow in the state.

The first time I climbed it was in July 2017 and it was bloody freezing. That time we over estimated the weather at the bottom but once on the peak we were definitely a lot more ready than the t-shirt clad folks around us. This time round, I travelled a little lighter for warmer weather.

Bluff Knoll

The climb itself is just over 4km each way, which on the day, with a few deviations at the top, totalled at 8.7km with an ascent of 794m, to an elevation above sea level of 1064m. At a pretty relaxed pace it took me just over 4 hours, with about 20mins of exploring and photo taking at the top.

Garmin Route

The journey going up wasn't that easy. Although the actual track is straight forward with quite a variety of steps made from rocks, boulders and wood bracing in places its an elaborate and never ending staircase until you reach the top. Stopping to admire the view was always a good reason to disguise a rest break.

As the trail carries up the hill, there are a couple of trickly waterfalls and plenty of views. Not much to say except for...the views

At the top, you get to see the car park again, and with a decent set of eyes you can make sure your car is still there.

It's pretty spectacular up there really.
