So I took an interest in a thing called Canon Collective. The Canon Collective are a series of workshops held all over the world for mainly Canon users in certain scenarios, whether it be city, long exposure, landscape etc.

I check the website every now and then, and previously have never managed to go to any of their workshops because of work. Having changed roles recently I had a peek and found an event at Elizabeth Quay. The workshop wasn't a workshop, but an introduction to Canon's first mirrorless DSLR the Canon EOS R.

So, one morning in October I made my way to Elizabeth Quay to meet with this collective. Spotting them wasn't hard and I soon made my introductions. Our Canon rep quickly introduced us to a Canon EOS R paired with a 24-105 F4 L lens. The camera body felt adequately sized and pretty light, the lens was bulky and also weighed as much. We had an introduction to the way things worked on the camera and feel like I even learned a few things about my own camera too. At then end, he told us to go and take photos for an hour to see if we liked the camera.

I took a bunch of photos around Elizabeth Quay, something I haven't done in a while. Since my last stint, they started building three new skyscrapers.

The camera itself was lighter than my current 80D, but seeing as this isn't a review, this is the TL;DR summary - its snazzy, the menus seem to take more clicks to get to common features and its great quality. I was told this one is the mid-range version, so it'll be interesting what comes next. For me, I'll give this one a miss.

Update from future me: I bought one :)
