Our first mistake was waking up in such a leisurely manner that we were having breakfast by 9am, filled up with deliciously expensive outback fuel just after and then thinking that we would make it to Wyndham before it was dark.

As we had such a leisurely start I took some photos before we left Fitzroy Crossing.

First stop on the road was Mimbi Caves. We’d read about it in the planning stages and were enthusiastic to go, but long story short, no signs of life found at the Mimbi Caves on either the journey out or on return. We later learned that they had closed for the wet season. The common theme on this trip! An excellent outcome given the aggressive tourism advertising campaign everyone seems to be running…

We had a sniff around the seemingly abandoned caravan site and then continued on our trip towards Wyndham.

I used the opportunity to record a bunch of b-roll of the motorhome trundling along on country roads for the grand road trip feature film. Lunch consisted of two wraps and a quantity of expensive fuel in Halls Creek.

We stopped quickly in Warmun and then found ourselves having used up most of the daylight and travelling in the dark to our next caravan park in Wyndham. I’ve realised in retrospect that this is kind of a non-event blog post, but I can’t leave a gap between destinations!
