I really am terrible at this, but maybe I’m just pacing myself. Wouldn’t want to spam my three subscribers with too many updates! Whilst I was in the UK, my parents and I went up to Wetherby to see my sister. The road trip of choice for the day was Knaresborough. It’s a historic market town, up north in Yorkshire, and it’s beautiful. Really reminds me how beautiful historic England can be. Something I really miss in Australia. That…and castles.

Knaresbrough Castle was the first stop. Home to a conveniently timed Medieval event. I can confidently say I’ve only been to one medieval festival before this.

The real treat with Knaresborough Castle though is walking out the other side and getting to look over the valley that the River Nidd snakes through. Very picturesque. Spammed the photos on this one.

We were quickly whisked past the view, down the winding path all the way to the riverside, home to a handful of cafes, pubs and unique riverside homes.

We rented a row boat and hooned (it’s an aussie term for driving recklessly or antisocially) up and down the river underneath the Knaresborough Viaduct. Being a ‘veteran’ of rowing, I ruled those waters, with the assistance of father steering the ruder, niece keeping a lookout and brother-in-law keeping the boat balanced

After we ruled the waves, we walked along the riverside, then up the hill back to the town centre.
