At the end of my Lombok jaunt I ended up moving from Perth to my new home in Southern Cross. I plan on doing a dedicated post on Southern Cross and the towns of Western Australia, but all that you need to know is that really there isn’t much out here.

Part of that advantage though of not having much out here means a reduction in people, houses and also light pollution (plus some hidden gems).

One of those treats is the night sky. Far away from the light pollution of the big cities you can see the milky way without any equipment, and makes astrophotography very rewarding.

So, the first of a few trips to the salt lake that is Lake Koorkoordine. Struggled to get my creative juices flowing with a decent foreground on this occasion, but the salt lake was magnificent, so enjoy the first set of photos.

The light on the horizon is from the passing Prospector train that links Perth with Kalgoorlie and everything in between.
