Everytime I travel to the Margaret region somehow it always seems to coincide with the World Surf League competition at Surfers Point in Yallingup. This time was no exception. This was the first time that I've visited on day one and first time I've seen the female competitors.

It was pretty exciting to see four or five different surfers on this occasion. I captured a few shots with my travel lens, the Tamron 17-400mm. It's not the sharpest, but the extra reach meant I didn't have to crop the photos too much.

On the way back to the car we took the detour down the hill to the local park where a dog statue caught my eye.

Today's itinerary was mostly just visiting attractions on the coast, heading north to conclude with a walk that Louise chose, the Bunker Bay walk. First stop was Indijup Natural Spa.

Unsure on the Spa origin, but it was unclear what we were in for when we parked up. A lot of rocks, some calm protected by rocks areas of sitting. It was a great spot with lots of rocks to climb, bit of problem solving plus some tall rocks to relax atop. I also came across a whale skull.

We continued to drive north and stopped at the popular Canal Rocks. I think the size of the car park always gives an indication of the popularity of a spot. That and the amount of money I guess the local authority spends. By this thought process, Canal Rocks was pretty popular. I guess its popular for the natural water channels that run between the rocks. A walkway allows tourists to get a closer look, but I was much more of a fan of climbing up the small rocky hill to get a better view of the area. Plus nobody else seemed to dare, making it much better!

Finally we arriving at the northern tip of the region, home of the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. We went on the short and very uninspiring Bunker Bay walk. Partly paved, mostly sandy with some views of the water, but pretty underwhelming.

That even we had a splendid dinner at Miki's Kitchen. A modern and Margaret Region take on Japanese food, with excellent execution.
