I haven’t written a post in ages, but come 18th May 2020, the state of Western Australia has seen fit to start easing restriction, meaning from that date, for the first time since moving to Southern Cross on 27th February 2020 I’m able to return to Perth. I now live just over 4 hours of driving from Perth and feel so isolated that when the restriction first came into force, life didn’t change much. Still, you don’t realise how much we take freedom of movement and freedom of social interaction without restriction for granted.

In this spirit of social restrictions, I haven’t seen anybody outside of Southern Cross. I’ve been to Merredin twice for groceries, but outside of work I’ve stayed at home. I’m an essential worker so some interaction is unavoidable.

Most of my photos in this period have been on the phone, and haven’t been very interesting to be honest. But I feel like if I don’t write something, I’ll wonder, when I look back on old posts, why I didn’t write anything, in what feels like another very significant event in my lifetime for the world.

So what else has changed? I’m cooking more, I’m enjoying sunsets, I’m appreciating a lot of the times I don’t do very much, I’m visiting some new places, I don’t eat out anymore, I’m losing bad weight, I’m exercising more, I feel good. But, I miss my family.

Looking forward to getting out of the house - I’ve already got a list of places locally I want to visit, take some photos and write some blog posts about.

So, watch this space.
